Even though it’s changed, the core of what has always made this a great event remains the same: adventure, community and a chance for people to push their limits with world-class riding. So we thought this would be the perfect time to take a look back on an event that has been the foundation of the TransRockies Race Series for more than two decades.

Over the course of 5 editions of Singletrack 6, we’ve visited more than 14 host communities and covered thousands of kilometers of singletrack. Each year is a new adventure! Planning a new route each and every year is no easy task—in fact, most other stage races don’t even try. But luckily, our home turf in British Columbia and Alberta has a seemingly endless number of trails to choose from.

Fernie holds a special place in the hearts of all of us here at TransRockies Race Series. It was the first host community we visited nearly twenty years ago for our inaugural TransRockies Challenge and the only community to have hosted all 13 of the Challenge’s. Since we updated the race and rebranded it Singletrack 6 in 2014, we’ve continued to return because of the great riding, endless hospitality and good fun!

Singletrack 6 visits some amazing communities. Rossland, Nelson, Fernie, Revelstoke...the list goes on. These and many of our other host communities have gained legendary status as ski destinations for their epic snowfall and spectacular terrain. They’re stops along what’s known as the ‘Powder Highway’. But they’re starting to become well known for mountain biking as well.

If you’ve never done a stage race, it’s hard to know what to expect, and that can make bike selection complicated. Each race has its own set of unique characteristics that need to be considered and Singletrack 6 is no exception. It’s an adventure, and having the right bike under you will help make it a gratifying and unforgettable experience!

From its inception in 2014, few riders have embodied Singletrack 6’s spirit of adventure, camaraderie and determination more completely than Travis Hauck. As an ST6 ambassador, Travis is well known at the TransRockies Race Series mountain bike stage races, and is one of the people that make these events a truly special experience.
