2016 Singletrack 6: Stage 0

The 2016 edition of Singletrack 6 kicks off at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and everything is buzzing! With the legendary trail quality of Fernie, the stoke-factor has been high for Stages 1 & 2. The community has been gearing up to showcase their phenomenal trails and pieced together the routes, hand selected from the best that this mountain bike hot-spot has to offer.

This year is the second edition of our shorter version Singletrack 3, which is held over the first 3 stages.

There are a number of top local and international riders taking part from various countries with some impressive credentials. Be sure to track their progress as the race heats up over the coming days.

– Andreas Hartmann (Germany) – Craft-Rocky Mountain rider: Sieger Nationalpark Bikemarathon 107km/SUI 2013, 9th Gesamt Bike Transalp 2014, 3rd Hero MTB Himalaya 2014/IND, 3X podium Singletrack 6 /TransRockies 2015.

– Rotem Ishay (Isreal) – Jamis rider: 9X Israeli  National Champion,

7X US Collegiate Champion, Top 10 US Cup Racer.

– Manuel Weisenbacher (Austria) – Craft Rocky Mountain Team Europe: Top 10 Finisher in TransAlps 2014 and Winner of Bike 4 Peaks Enduro in Austria.

– Marc Andre Daigle (Canada) – Team Louis Garneau: 2015 ST6 Open Men Team

Champion.

– Frederic Gombert (France): French Marathon MTB Champion.

– Carter Nieuwesteeg (Canada): top U23 racer from Fernie.

– Jon Firth (Canada): former ST6 and TransRockies Challenge team champion.

Women:

– Kim Hurst (New Zealand): Kiwi elite XC marathon racer, 1st Karapoti Classic 2016, BC Bike Race stage podiums.

– Kate Aardal (Canada): 2015 & 2016 ST6 Solo Champion.

– Trish Grajcyk (Canada): past TransRockies Challenge Champion.

– Margie Smith (Canada): past TransRockies Challenge women’s team Champion.

– Norm Thibault and Wendy Simms (Canada): past TransRockies Challenge Champions, 3rd 2015 ST6 – Wendy Simms won 2016 timed descents.

– Jeff Nielsen and Alana Heise (Canada): 2015 ST6 Champions – 80+ Mixed.

– Sonya Looney (US): Former 24 Hour World Champion. Racing with her husband, Matt Ewonus.
